Capturing authentic moments, with a mix of lifestyle and documentary photos, my images can be described as natural and emotive. Balanced with rich colours and warm tones. I love to document the day as it naturally unfolds, while connecting the story of the session, with a component of editorial direction.
location, location
This is where I come in. Driving around golden hour, staring into vacant spaces and nature trails, to find the best lit locations, so you don't have to! You see some dead long grass that desperately needs some whipper snipping? I see a beautiful spot, where the golden light of sunset hits each blade of grass perfectly. An open space for your children to run around without confinement. A perfectly neutral backdrop to put you in focus! I have tried and tested locations to choose from in the Greater Springfield region. If you need the shoot to happen closer to home, or in your home, do not fear! I will come to you and create some beautiful magic.
POSING, PLANNING
Feeling uncomfortable in front of the camera, since, well, forever? This is where all the weight off your shoulders needs to melt away instantly, because I will direct, pose, and promt the whole family. Forget hearding cats. Think of me as the sheep dog. Eager to get the job done as effienciently, and as fun, as possible. Forget forceful smiles, all synchronously looking to the camera. Think "tickling mum", "jumping on dad's shoulders", "running around mum and dad like aeroplanes!". I've got this. Your kids will think this is the best day ever. I mean how often do you get bribed and rewarded with a donut at the end of your session, just for playing along with miss-crazy-photographer's ideas?
THE GOLDEN HOUR
Light is everything, when it comes to photography. Having a say on when is the best time to take photos is, can literally make or break the end result! I always recommend the first hour after sunrise, or the first hour before sunset, for that beautiful, soft, warm light. I mean the end goal is to get the dreamiest photos of all time, right? If the sun seems to be hiding on your shoot day, I am open to rescheduling 2 hours earlier or later, or rescheduling your session entirely, if my calendar allows for flexibility at the time. Also, very important to note! Light > location. Sometimes the most stunning locations do not lend themselves to great light. It may be too direct, or too reflective. Always prioritize light quality over the actual setting.
IMAGES & PRINTS
Photography, and what makes a great photo, is often completely subjective. This means, I will often choose photos that I love, rather than what I can sense that you will love. So, this is your chance to enter the driver's seat! Around a week post-session, we can arrange a video call to pick out your absolute favourite images to edit. This gives me a much clearer idea of what your end-goal and vision needs to look like, and puts more direction into the final outcome of the shoot. After all, I don't want you looking though an entire gallery of images, deciding that you only love 2 out of 30? I want you to absolutely love every bit of hand-selected imagery. Each photo needs to tell your personal story.
